Houstons Gay Mayor

In Houston's they elected a gay Mayor. Do you think this is right? Annise Parker has made history. She is the first Houston's openly gay mayor. She beat former city attorney Gene Locke with a 53.6% of the vote in a runoff election. Also winning this election made her second women to ever become mayor of Houston. Now my concern is, is this going to be a problem with the people of Houston. Not all people agree with this decision and is it going to cause more problems then they have already? She was elected in a state that it is against the law for same sex marriage? Ironic? I think so."I have always stood up for the fact that I am gay. It's part of the resume that I bring to the table, but it's just a piece of the package," she said. Yes she is confident in herself and that the fact of her being gay isn't going to change but will she be able to do more for the state other then that?

In my opinion i think that this will cause more trouble then they need. We already have so many problems in this world so why are we taking the chance of causing more? Yeah she might be a really good mayor and she might have goals but thats beside the point. People might not agree with more of the things she says being she is gay. Its not the fact that they don't like her. In this world today people will ignore people for the most random things and it doesn't make sense but it still happens and we cant really control that. I believe that this was the wrong decision it will just cause more problems in the end.
